One More Time

So, after I get the news we're moving on to a New England drama festival, I start to do two things:

1). CRY MY F***ING EYES OUT!!!! You have no idea how much I wanted this whole thing to end! I ha d prepared myself to move on to semi-finals at the most, because that's as far as we usually get every year. Finals was just great, mostly though because I knew it was the last time the play would be performed, and because I really wanted to go to finals. But I didn't want to drag on this play that's been going on for FOUR MONTHS!!!

2). I now begin to worry about my spring/summer plans I had been planning ever since February. I wanted to improve my life: go to the gym, eat right, work more, go to bed earlier. I just am gunna have to push things back even further... happens every year. And then there's my academic life. I mean, my school work is suffering and my grades are slipping, not good especially if this is the year colleges look at the most. GEH!!! STRESS MUCH!?!?!?

Well, anyways, we had gotten three weeks until the next festival, so we take our time in rehearsing. The group was split in two: most wanted to go, but they just wanted the play to be over. Makes sense, I felt the same way.

But on the bright side, we get two days off from school, and the next week is April vacation. Yay for two extra days of vaca!

At any rate, it's a four hour drive to Rutland, Vermont where the festival is. My car gets there in three and one half hours. We were the first ones from my school to reach Vermont. But that doesn't matter right now...

So the plays begin. I was expecting absolute greatness. I mean, these were the best drama schools in New England, right? So there should be some damn good plays, correct?

Well...... not exactly.

Like finals, I felt all the plays were just... alright. One in particular was good, about a elderly couple and their relationship with their son. Dramatic, depressing, but very compelling and realistic. I actually almost cried. And quite strange was the fact that as I was watching it, I kinda thought that this could be how my relationship would turn out with my father. Sad, but true.

At any rate, we watch the other plays, and before we know it it's time to perform. SPOILER: There were no medical casualties. But we did drag this poor kid along to be a replacement for one of our previous casualties, just in case he was to get sick before the show. Fortunately, we didn't need a replacement, and the show went on without a hitch. I think it was the favorite of the festival. Everyone seemed to enjoy our performance the best. Go us!

After it was all said and done, there were no winners and losers. It's not that kind of festival. We had this huge banquet, said our congratulations and our goodbyes and we hit the road. Sad really, but it was worth it to go and see how the other states matched up against the great old Massachusetts. I'd do it again, but thank God there's no next step after this. I need a break from all this (here comes the bad joke!) DRAMA!!!

Seriously, I think I'll take the spring off. I need some time to decompose and relax, then get all stressed out again for the upcoming SATs. Yay. More standardized testing to tell me how smart I am.

Well, there's not much to write about now, but if anything happens, I'll let ya know.

Peace, love and granola,

~Andrew
